2c’s Host the Business Weekly Awards… Again!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 24, 2010 by aliveandsound

After the success of last year’s event Alive & Sound were called back to deliver the same stunning, professional setup for our client 2C’s.  The annual Business Awards event is for the Eastern Region, nearly 200 business leaders and dignitaries were treated to an evening black tie dinner at Queen’s College, Cambridge.

Alive and Sound were brought in to provide the full AV set-up, including a custom built set, staging, lighting, audio and visual content.

The set was made from our standard flats, built into a one of our more popular designs, incorporating a central 10′ rear projection screen. These had been freshly covered with the client’s choice of blue-grey felt, and the whole thing was mounted on a 1′ high stage, neatly finished with a navy valance.

For the visual side of the event, we used one of our ever-popular Canon LV7585 projectors for the main screen, and two 50″ LG full HD screens to the sides. The client had requested that we have two different feeds for the central screen and the side screens, so our clever little Kramer presentation switcher was brought in to enable us to switch seamlessly between the client’s various slideshows and DVD content.

This year, the client decided that they wanted to do away with the lapel mics and instead all of the speeches were to be made into the AKG mics mounted on the lectern. This along with the rest of the audio content was relayed through our rather nice and compact A&H MixWizard out to a range of FBT Verve speakers – surrounding the happy listeners from all sides!

To give the professional touch to any stage set-up requires some effective mood and stage lighting. This was done using a combination of our LED cans and moving heads to create some texture on the stage, controlled by our Pearl lighting console. To pick out the key areas, ETC Source 4 spots were used, along with a new addition this year of a follow spot complete with willing operator!

All of these areas came together in an amazingly short amount of time, and the evening was a great success. 2Cs had the following to say:  ”a big thanks to your team. They were extremely helpful and efficient and ensured everything ran smoothly. They were absolute stars!!!”

We’re already looking forward to next years event, see you in Cambridge!

Canoe Inc @ Vinyl Factory

Posted in Uncategorized on March 24, 2010 by aliveandsound

Our lovely client Canoe Inc got in contact a couple of weeks ago in need of screens and projectors  for Volcom x London College of Fashion SEED event. After visiting the location, Vinyl Factory- (GREAT space situated below Phonica Records, Soho- ) we knew the brief and we started working out where and how we would mount the equipment. The great thing about the Vinyl Factory is the freedom to be creative in their space. This meant we could create the ideal setup for our client.

We needed to incorporate a DJ setup for the party element to the event and several sets of visuals for the ‘live’ photoshoot and promotional material that would be displayed during the evening. Our plasmas and projectors created a subtle backdrop to showcase the work of the LCF students.  Thanks to Canoe for getting in touch… also nice to hear your event was a success : )

Amika at the Polo

The Royal Berkshire Polo Club teamed up with Amika to host a day of Winter Polo and fun in the country. A marquee was erected on the grounds and we provided our best audio, visuals and technicians for the occasion.

Our lighting included; moving heads on truss, LED colour washing, branded gobos and projections. We also supplied a 3m LED wall complete with pre-programmed lighting scenes. For the sound we used 4 subs and tops with 4 smaller filler speakers for the quiter areas. A nice simple marquee setup that looked absolutely amazing.

Wandsworth Green Awards

Posted in Uncategorized on February 15, 2010 by aliveandsound

Alive & Sound worked alongside Seventeen Events to put on an event at the newly opened Pestana Hotel in Battersea for the Wandsworth Green Awards. We supplied the stage & set inc draping, lighting, PA, lectern, mics, plasmas and engineers. We also project managed the event to incorporate the clients Powerpoint presentation and script into the evening. We supplied staff to act as the ‘Voice of God’ and engineers to control the sound and lighting.

Our client chose to go for two 65″ plasmas on the stage and a further two 50″ plasmas in the centre of the room. The layout of the room meant that we had to solve the problem of visuals being obstructed by two pillars. By setting up the 50″ screens on the pillars meant that every guest was in view of at least one screen. The idea of having the setup minimal and crisp was acheived with a simple backdrop and small stepped stage.

Sports Packages 2010

Posted in Uncategorized on January 14, 2010 by aliveandsound

With this being the year that the majority of the nation has been waiting for since 2006, Alive & Sound are putting packages in place to make your sports viewing the most amazing yet. We are giving you an excuse to stay at home put your feet up and still enjoy a big screen sporting experience.

Plasma or Projector?

Firstly please consider which ‘big screen’ will be best for you.

If your venue/home has a lot of light in a certain areas-the projector (unless a high spec) will not create a big bright image unlike a plasma. If you can dim the room or have a shaded wall why not create anything up to a 4m x 3m live feed image of England (or your team of choice) playing in the World Cup for you and your friends/customers to watch. If you would like something sleeker we stock 32″, 42″, 50″, 55″ and 61″ plasma screens that can be directly linked to your live aerial feed- whether terrestrial or Sky, Virgin etc. Our engineers can come deliver the equipment, install for you and then come back to collect.

It’s all about Stage Sets.

Posted in Uncategorized on January 6, 2010 by aliveandsound

It’s the start of another year and we are already quoting for forthcoming conferences, awards and presentation events. When planning for these events the majority of people stick to the same setup they have had previously and have not considered the benefits of adding a set to their stage. The frameset can be custom built to any size and serves the purpose of providing a company branded backdrop. As you can see below, this set along with the use of lights and graphics to blast desired colours/images to backdrop provides a stunning set for your company to showcase its event.

NYE Setups

Posted in Uncategorized on January 5, 2010 by aliveandsound

While everyone was at home full of Christmas turkey and mince pies, Alive & Sound were mid way through the busiest week of the year. We supplied equipment to a range a places and put on events in two big locations. Crazy Homies- Notting Hill, Loungelover- Shoreditch, The Waterfront- Battersea, The Chancery Bar- Fulham are a few of the places where we setup and boosted soundsystems and lighting to help create a great party atmosphere.

The Raddison Hotel put on a great night tickets were £90 including a fun filled evening, a room and breakfast. We were presented with a big airy empty space that we needed to transform into a more intimate vibrant party space. Due to the space being so large our main concerns were the visuals and the sound. We had to provide enough lighting to fill the are to do this we supplied a lighting truss to which we setup ten moving heads and we used uplighters which were placed all around the room. All these were controlled by our lighting engineer Evan throughout the evening. We pre programmed scenes for the lights and these were played throughout the evening to create some visual wonders for the guests. The sound system was based on any such system that you would find in a large capacity London club. We used a high spec FBT Verve speaker system and double stacked 4x 1000w subs and 4x 750w full range speakers giving a total of 7.5kw which filled the large space perfectly. The music was loud, crisp and the dancefloor was packed from start to finish.

The DJ Agency (our sister company) provided DJ Bobby and he supplied the treat for the ears.

We received great feedback from the client and we are looking forward to working with them again in the New Year.

Well done to all the engineers, Evan for the lighting and Bobby for the music.

Gills Crusies

Posted in Uncategorized on January 5, 2010 by aliveandsound

Here at Alive & Sound we love Gills Cruises. They put on great events for their staff and clients and the workplace is a better place because of it.

This was the second year running that we supplied for their Christmas party and we have also helped them with various other events throughout the year. They wanted to go all out and bring the staff to London for a party on board the Silver Sturgeon on the Thames. We supplied the lighting, sound equipment for DJ Spenny (another great DJ from the DJ Agency), live equipment for the singers and to add the wow factor a LED video dance floor complete with company graphics and logos. It looked great and another happy Christmas customer.
